My name is Patrick Abanathy: husband, Western Kentuckian, international traveler, author, lover of gardening, baking, indie/world rock (even the new stuff) and, finally, great 80s pop! I grew up in this area and, as such, completely understand the importance of small town values. Second only to my amazing wife, Elizabeth, photography has been my decades-long passion and boudoir photography has been part of that life since 2013 leading to the creation of YOU by Abanathy Photography in 2014.

Adding boudoir as one of our portrait service fortes happened organically. When we first created Abanathy Photography, LLC, we went through a very common phase in startup portrait businesses where we offered just about every kind of photography possible. With this, we knew boudoir might be requested from time to time and, to illustrate our portfolio, we employed a couple of models as our first official boudoir sessions…and, almost immediately, I found that I loved it! 

Having already worked with the human form in college in both life drawing and photography, the idea of boudoir photography didn’t intimidate me. And, while many photographers enjoy working exclusively with families and babies, I was drawn more to weddings, graduates, commercial/events and, of course, boudoir. 

For me, boudoir is a very real style of photography working with clients on an intimate level which lets me capture their unfiltered, very human side. And to be blessed with capturing this with my camera is indescribable! 

I’m privileged to see the lively twinkle in our clients’ eyes as they have an amazing experience bringing out their fun, daring side for the camera! This is only matched shortly later when they get to see their proofs and realize they are, in fact, beautiful, head to toe!
